eSight Gains ISO 9001:2015 Certification

eSight, World Leader in Wearable Technology that Allows Legally Blind to See, Gains ISO 9001:2015 Certification

Designation attests to company dedication to excellence in manufacturing

TORONTO, ON, September 26, 2016 – Having made it possible for low vision and legally blind people to see with its wearable technology, eSight Eyewear is proud to announce its Ottawa facility has achieved the honor of ISO 9001:2015 certification.  This is a globally recognized benchmark for best practices in quality management.

By meeting the extensive criteria for this standard, eSight confirms its commitment to consistently deliver effective quality management systems and drive continuous improvements to products, services and internal processes.

The benefit to eSight customers is to ultimately enhance their satisfaction through defined and documented processes using ISO 9001:2015 requirements as a framework.  This ensures repeatable results in the development, manufacturing and delivery of our products.

Yearly third party audits from our registrar will provide confidence to our stakeholders of our ongoing commitment to meeting and exceeding recognized standards.

“eSight is proud to have achieved this designation.  It’s an indication of our dedication to excellence,” said Brian Mech, PhD, President and CEO of eSight.  In addition, this designation will make cooperation with other manufacturers much smoother.  “It provides a good framework for setting up manufacturing processes and product development,” says Dave Falardeau, eSight Quality Manager.

This designation will aid eSight in achieving its mission of helping as many people as possible with low vision around the world to see.  eSight Eyewear works for about 4 out of 5 people with low vision and can replace tools such as CCTVs, digital magnifiers and screen reading technology. eSight contains a high-definition camera that captures everything a user looks at. A powerful computer processes the video and displays it onto near-to-eye screens that mimic normal sight – with no perceptible delay.  eSight also has a unique bioptic tilt feature that gives users the ability to walk around freely.

About eSight:

eSight was founded in 2006 for the sole purpose of allowing legally blind and low vision people to see.  eSight is an ISO-9001 certified manufacturer, with locations in Los Angeles, Toronto, Ottawa, and a network of affiliates across the United States.  This unique patented assistive device enables people with vision loss to actually see and therefore to engage in virtually all the activities of independent daily living.  It helps people with many conditions, including but not limited to Macular Degeneration, Diabetic Retinopathy, Stargardt’s Disease, Ocular Albinism, Optic Nerve Hypoplasia, Leber’s Hereditary Optic Neuropathy, Cone-Rod Dystrophy, Nystagmus, Retinopathy of Prematurity, and some forms of Glaucoma and Retinitis Pigmentosa. eSight improves sight for about 80% of people with low vision. For many people with age-related macular degeneration (AMD), the most common cause of legal blindness in North America among people over 55, eSight is the miracle they have dreamt about.
